These devices offer real-time location tracking for machinery, which can help businesses improve efficiency, safety, theft prevention, and asset management. In this article, we’ll explore the advantages of GPS plant trackers for heavy machinery and why they’re a game-changer for businesses.

Real-time Location Tracking: Increased Protection Against Theft

One of the biggest advantages of GPS plant trackers is real-time location tracking, which offers increased protection against theft. With GPS technology, you can monitor the whereabouts of your plants machinery at all times, making it easier to locate them in case of theft.

Increased Security: Set up Geofences and Receive Alerts

GPS plant trackers can also help increase the security of your machinery. You can set up geofences around your machinery and receive push notification alerts if they move outside of these designated areas. This can be especially useful for larger farms or gardens, where it may be difficult to monitor all areas at all times.

Deterrent Effect: Thieves Think Twice Before Stealing

The presence of plant trackers can also have a deterrent effect on potential thieves. Knowing that the machinery is being monitored and tracked may make thieves think twice before attempting to steal it. In the event that a thief is caught and prosecuted, the evidence provided by the plant tracker can be used in court to help secure a conviction.

Quick Recovery of Stolen Plants: Provide Exact Location to the Police

In the unfortunate event of theft, plant trackers can help you recover your machinery quickly. With real-time location tracking, you can provide the police with the exact location of your stolen machinery, making it easier for them to recover it. This can be useful for high-value machinery, such as diggers and tractors, where the cost of replacement may be significant.

Cost Savings: Preventing Theft Saves Money in the Long Run

Plant trackers can help reduce theft and save money in the long run. Although the initial cost of the plant tracker may be an investment, the potential cost savings from preventing theft can be significant. This includes not only the cost of replacing stolen machinery, but also the time and resources that may be required to identify and prosecute the thief.

Improved Efficiency: Identify Inefficiencies and Address Issues Quickly

One of the primary benefits of GPS plant trackers for machinery is that they can help improve efficiency. With real-time location tracking, businesses can monitor the progress of their machinery and identify any inefficiencies or issues that may be affecting performance. When it comes to owning a motorhome, one of the most important things to consider is how to keep it safe and secure. After all, a motorhome is not only a significant investment but also a valuable asset that requires proper care and protection. One of the most effective ways to do this is by installing a motorhome tracker.

What is a Motorhome Tracker?

A motorhome tracker is a device that can be installed in your motorhome to help you keep track of its location at all times. It can be useful if your motorhome is stolen or if you want to monitor its movements for other reasons. However, with so many options available in the market, it's challenging to know which motorhome tracker is the right one for your needs.

In this article, we'll take a closer look at some factors to consider when choosing a motorhome tracker and provide some recommendations to help you make an informed decision.

How to Choose the Right Motorhome Tracker

Let us start with what we consider being the most important question to ask when deciding which motorhome tracker we believe will be the best for your needs.

Has your insurance company asked for an Insurance Approved Motorhome Tracker?

If the answer is YES, we have two great options for you to consider. The S5 Insurance Approved Motorhome Tracker and the S7 Motorhome Insurance Approved Tracker. The major difference between the two is that the 57 has Driver ID Tags, so if the vehicle is started without the Driver ID Tag being present, then an alert is sent to the control room and you are contacted to see if it’s you driving.

As of December 2022, we are pleased to offer the S7 and S5 insurance-approved trackers at a discounted price.

The S7 Insurance Approved Tracker is currently only £179.99 and the S5 Insurance approved tracker is only £299.99. Price includes installation at a location of your choice on the UK Mainland. These prices are subject to change and availability.

If your insurance company has asked for a Motorhome Tracker and it doesn’t need to be Thatcham or Insurance Approved, there are more options available for you to choose from.

Motorhome Trackers - Other Options

When choosing a motorhome tracker, it’s helpful to be aware of the various choices you have. For example, you can choose between a wired motorhome tracker and a magnetic tracker which operates independently with an internal battery. Wired trackers require a physical installation, while magnetic trackers can easily be hidden underneath the vehicle, making it harder to spot. Both provide excellent security and peace of mind!

Understanding the significant features of a motorhome tracker will give you the confidence to choose a high-quality motorhome tracker which works for you. With so many low-quality motorhome trackers on the market right now, it’s important to know what to look for.

Here at I Track Direct, we currently have 4 of the best motorhome trackers on the market. Some of these trackers are magnetic so you can place them under the vehicle as they are battery operated and not wired into your motorhome, which makes it harder for the tracker to be found, giving you a better chance of recovering your motorhome.

Let's look at these options:

  1. Fully Installed - Wired into the vehicle - Motorhome Tracker

If you're looking for a reliable and long-term solution to protect your motorhome, a fully installed, wired-in motorhome tracker could be the perfect choice for you. A wired-in motorhome tracker is a GPS tracking device that is installed directly into your motorhome's electrical system. This type of tracker offers several benefits over portable, battery-powered trackers, including greater reliability, accuracy and peace of mind.

2. Motorhome Tracker GPS 521 (Internal Battery Operated - rechargeable)

We highly recommend our GPS 521 motorhome tracker for its superior GPS Tracking capabilities. It is fully waterproof and is currently available to purchase for only £99.99 (Excluding Magnetic Plate £16.79) as of writing this blog post in December 2022. It is programmed to report its GPS position every 6 hours as standard. We typically see up to 12 months of battery life set at these reporting periods.

The Motorhome Tracker will send an alert to notify you when it needs charging. To charge, simply place the tracker onto a wireless charger pad (supplied), and leave it for approximately 4-6 hours. The required charging time depends on the battery level within the Motorhome Tracker.

3. Motorhome Tracker Model i7

This i7 GPS Motorhome Tracker goes the extra mile. It reports is position up to 4 times a day, but we advise on twice a day reporting. For example, 1000 hours and 2200 hours. This means you will get a battery life expectancy between 3 to 5 years.

If the unit is in a difficult environment, the i7 will stop looking after its first attempt at finding a GPS position and then conduct what is often known as a GSM locate or a cell site location. This means it will connect via its mobile networks to all Mobile masts in the area and then work out and approximate distance it is from each mast using the signal strength to each mast as a guide. It will then turn this information into a circle on the screen to show its approximate area.

This information is extremely helpful if the item stolen i,e, your motorhome has been placed in a shipping container to block the GPS.

The i7 can also then, with our help, trigger the RF (radio Frequency Beacon) to assist the police in narrowing down the exact position of the motorhome. Take this for an example.

If there were an area with 30 shipping containers present and you didn't know which one contained your stolen motorhome. With the RF beacon activated, the police could identify EXACTLY which container held your motorhome. So even without GPS you would be able to a recover your motorhome.

4. Motorhome Tracker Model i9

This i9 GPS Motorhome Tracker goes the extra mile. It reports is position up to 4 times a day, but we advise on twice a day reporting. For example, 1000 hours and 2200 hours. This means you will get a battery life expectancy between 4 to 6 years.

If the unit is in a difficulty environment, the i9 will stop looking after its first attempt at finding a GPS position and then conduct what is often known as a GSM locate or a cell site location.

The i9 can also then, with our help, trigger the RF (radio Frequency Beacon) to assist the police in narrowing down the exact position of the motorhome. Take this for an example.

If there were an area with 30 shipping containers present and you didn't know which one contained your stolen motorhome. With the RF beacon activated, the police could identify EXACTLY which container held your motorhome. So even without GPS you would be able to a recover your motorhome.

If you’re looking for a motorhome tracker that doesn’t require charging, the Motorhome Tracker i7 or i9 may be the perfect fit for you! These models differ from the Motorhome Tracker 521 in that they are fully sealed and do not require charging. HOWEVER, At the end of their life for example 5 years they cannot be re charge and are to be disposed of.

What’s the difference between the i7 / i9 Motorhome Trackers and the 521 Motorhome Tracker?

Our i7 and i9 Motorhome Trackers come with some additional features that might be confusing, but don’t worry - we’ll keep it simple! Every time your Motorhome Tracker reports its position, the data is sent to our servers and then right to your App or Desktop login. Then you can see where it is.

Let’s look at the Motorhome Tracker 521. If it cannot report its location or see its location for any reason, it’ll wait until the next time. This is like 99% of GPS trackers, however the i7 and i9 go the extra mile.

If they can’t spot their exact location, they’ll perform a GSM location. This uses the local mobile masts to determine an approximate area, and then it’ll be marked on your map. After that, they’ll go back to sleep. That’s not all! We can turn on the Radio Frequency beacon within the i7/i9 Tracker to help the Police locate the Motorhome. For instance, if the Motorhome is hidden in a metal container, it's difficult to get a GPS signal, although not impossible. But thankfully, with the Radio Beacon, we can make the search much easier and determine which container your motorhome is in.

Why the price difference between the 521 and the i7 and i9?

The difference between an i7 and an i9 motorhome tracker is the battery size, which allows for extended battery life. The i7 Motorhome tracker is £245.00, and the i9 is £270.00 as of writing this blog post in December 2022. These motorhome trackers are sealed and therefore cannot be charged, so, if they last five years, they have reached the end of their service life.

The Motorhome Tracker 521 is our best-selling Motorhome Tracker, and it is highly recommended because of its optional Magnetic plate for the base, which is especially beneficial for the use of trailers and the ability to recharge it.

GPS Tracking Features

GPS tracking can be a great asset to motorhome owners when it comes to theft recovery. GPS trackers can quickly locate its whereabouts and send an alert of its location to assist the police and the rightful owner! If you’re worried about motorhome theft, then investing in a motorhome GPS tracking system is definitely worth it.

When searching for a GPS tracker, accuracy and reliability are two of the most important factors to consider. The system should be able to report the location and movements of any vehicle being tracked. It’s also worth looking into some of the more advanced features, such as

Geofence Alerts - If your Motorhome is typically left in an isolated location for extended periods of time, and you don’t visit to check on it frequently, you can create a Zone around your Motorhome. If the GPS reports the Motorhome has moved out of the assigned zone, you will receive a push notification on your mobile phone.

IF you have a wired GPS Tracker, this will instantly alert you. IF you have a GPS 521 set with motion alerting every 5 minutes, then you will receive this when the tracker leaves the zone and acquires its GPS signal. IF you have an i7 or an i9 then this will only alert you when its next wake up time for example 2200 is due when it looks for its GPS positions.

Journey History - Motorhome trackers provide a convenient way to monitor your vehicle’s movements. With access to its history for up to one year, you can easily review the location of your motorhome for any day in the last twelve months.

Theft Recovery - It’s sad to think about, but motorhome theft is becoming more and more common. The good news is that GPS trackers can help make sure your motorhome is recovered quickly if it ever gets stolen. Taking proactive steps to protect your motorhome is the best way to keep it safe, so why not invest in a GPS tracker today?

Additional Motorhome Theft Safety Tips

It’s important to always secure the doors and windows of your motorhome when you leave it unattended. Investing in a GPS tracking system for your motorhome can be a great way to help increase the chances of recovery if it ever becomes stolen.

Apart from installing a Motorhome tracker, you can also add extra security features, such as

  • Wheel Clamps
  • Steering locks
  • Immobilsers
  • Motorhome Alarms

Protecting your Motorhome at home

At home, you want to make sure your Motorhome is safe. There are a few simple steps you can take to give you peace of mind when you’re away from your Motorhome. Here are some tips to help you protect your Motorhome:

  • Store it in a secure location
  • Use a steering wheel lock - this is an inexpensive and effective way to make sure your motorhome stays where you left it.
  • Install motion-sensor lighting
  • Park it in a well-lit area - this will help deter any potential thieves.
  • Install CCTV - this can alert you if someone attempts to access your Motorhome.
  • CCTV Stickers
  • Window Locks
  • Gear Level Locks
  • Driveway post - If your motorhome is parked up on your driveway, installing a driveway post will make it more difficult for thieves, preventing an easy getaway.

With these extra precautions, the chances of your motorhome being stolen is

In this blog post, we’ll be discussing the benefits of car trackers.

Car trackers can provide many benefits, including immobilisation, driver behaviour monitoring, zone alerts, and history reports. They can also help with complaint handling, MOT reminders, insurance reminders, and journey planning.

So whether you’re a busy professional who wants to monitor your car while you’re at work, or a parent who wants to see the driving behaviour of their new teenage son or daughter, car trackers can be a valuable addition to your life. Let’s look at some benefits of car trackers.

Immobilisation

If you choose to purchase a car tracker with remote immobilisation, you will have the ability to immobilise your car if it’s stolen or is used without your permission. You simply send a command from your phone using our mobile app, or you can login via the control panel on your computer, and as soon as your car stops, it will stop the car from starting again.

With this feature, you can take immediate action, which can help you locate and recover your car quickly.

Driver Behaviour

Car trackers can also help you monitor your driving or your drivers behaviour. For example, if you own a fleet of vehicles and you’re worried about your drivers speeding, you can use a car tracker to monitor their driving behaviour.

Also, if you lend your car to a new driver who has just passed their driving test, a car tracker can give you peace of mind knowing where they are and knowing they are driving your car with due care and attention.

For businesses, unauthorised use of company vehicles can have some costly consequences, from increased mileage, wear and tear, increased fuel consumption and even damage to your business’ reputation.

Having the ability to monitor your drivers behaviour can help you save money and also help improve the standard of driving for your employees.

Complaint Handling

If you’re a business owner, it’s important to have a plan in place for when you receive complaints about your drivers on the road. We understand it’s difficult to handle a situation when you get an unhappy call or email from a person who encountered issues with one of your employees driving your company vehicle. That’s why it’s essential to have a plan in place to protect your business’s reputation.

Our GPS tracking dashboard has a fantastic feature that allows you to pinpoint an area on the map and search to see which vehicles were in the area during the reported incident time. This will help you narrow down the results to easily identify the driver, so you can take the appropriate steps.

We also offer the added benefit of having a GPS dash camera installed, so you can get a better understanding of what happened during a complaint handling situation.

As more and more vehicles get added to the roads each year, road rage is becoming more and more of a problem. One of the most common cases of road rage is tailgating. With a GPS dash camera, you’ll be able to stay safe on the roads and stay prepared for any road rage incidents.

Zone Alerts

Another significant benefit of car trackers is that you can set them up to receive alerts for specific zones (areas) for when your vehicle enters or leaves. This is perfect if you want to be sure that your car is always where it’s supposed to be.

For businesses, creating a zone is a great way to be notified if a vehicle is arriving or leaving a particular area. You can use this feature to ensure your company vehicles aren’t being driven out of hours. You can set-up alerts to be sent to you either by E-Mail alert or a push notification on your mobile phone.

Journey History

Car trackers are a great way to keep track of your vehicle’s movements. You can always look back at the tracker’s history for up to one year. This is incredibly useful for seeing where your car was at a particular time and day. It can help you in many situations, such as if you need to recall the exact route you took or if you want to keep track of your vehicle’s mileage and usage.

car tracker

Speeding Reports

Speeding Reports enable you to respond and act quickly to prevent accidents, fines, and penalty points. Information exported from speeding reports can also manage risk and reduce fuel costs.

You can also have our system alert you when vehicles reach specific speeds to intervene in a timely manner. A good example of setting up a speeding alert is to set-up a push notification or email alert to your phone if any of your vehicles exceed the national speed limit.

Push Notifications

Another benefit of car trackers is that they can send push notifications to your phone. This means you can set-up push notifications such as:

Fence Breaches

Creating a fence (a boundary) around your vehicle is easy! Plus, you can set specific times for when it should be within the fence. If your vehicle ever moves outside of the fence, you’ll get a push notification.

Out Of Hours

Having vehicles monitored outside of working hours can be a great benefit for businesses, helping you ensure your vehicles are only being used when they should be. If any of your vehicles are used outside of working hours, you will receive a push notification alerting you the specific company vehicle is being driven outside of working hours.

Motion Alerts

Motion alerts are a great way to keep tabs on your vehicle and make sure it’s parked up where it is supposed to be. With our mobile app and online dashboard, it’s easy to set up push notifications so you can get an alert on your phone whenever motion is detected or your vehicle is moved. Plus, you’ll never have to worry about it being moved without your knowledge, as the alert will provide you with instant notification if this happens.

Customer Service

We know that keeping track of your fleet and customer service can be challenging, but with our mobile phone apps and online dashboard login on your computer, you can easily see all of your vehicle’s movements.

This can be helpful in managing your fleet, making sure everything is running smoothly, and improving your customer service. You’ll be able to see the route, stops, idle time, and approximate arrival time of each vehicle, allowing you to check on the status of its journey and make sure your customer is receiving the best service possible.

Plus, our GPS system takes real-time traffic into account, so you can get a reliable overview of any route.

MOT & Insurance Reminders

We know how busy life can be, and it’s easy to forget about things like your car’s MOT or insurance payments. That’s why our platform has a great feature which allows you to set up reminders so that you can stay on top of managing your vehicle’s services when they’re due. This means that you never have to worry about missing an MOT or forgetting your car insurance payments again! With this feature, your car will stay in good condition, and that you’ll never be without the insurance coverage.

Receive Maintenance Reminders

Vehicle service maintenance is a crucial part of taking care of your vehicles. Not only does it help ensure that your vehicles run smoothly, it also prevents costly repairs that can occur down the road if regular maintenance is neglected.

To make sure your vehicles stay in a good condition, our GPS tracking platform and mobile app have a feature that allows you to easily set reminders for your vehicles’ annual services. That way, you won’t have to worry about forgetting any important servicing.

The reminders can be tailored to the specific needs of each of your vehicles, and you can even personalise the message to include any additional instructions, such as telephone numbers to contact garages you regularly use.

Driver I.D Tags

If you’re in charge of a business with multiple vehicles and drivers, it’s important to assign each driver their own driver I.D. tag. This is a great way to help keep track of who’s behind the wheel of each vehicle. If any vehicle incidents occur, such as speeding or dangerous driving, you’ll be able to quickly identify who the driver was.

Having driver I.D. tags can help make sure your drivers adhere to safety standards and help keep your vehicles and drivers safe on the roads. It’s a small step that can make a big difference to the overall safety of your drivers and vehicles.

Personal or Business Mileage

If you use your car for business, car trackers can be incredibly helpful in tracking your mileage. This means that you can keep an accurate record of all your business travel, making it easier to claim back the costs of your journeys.

Journey Planning

Car trackers can also help you plan your journeys with ease. Not only can you see the best route to take, but you can also avoid any traffic jams that may stand in your way.

It can be so frustrating when you’re trying to get somewhere and you get stuck in a long line of cars, but with a car tracker, you can avoid that from happening by logging into the car tracking dashboard and see a real time live overview of the traffic ahead.

Theft Recovery

If your car gets stolen, car trackers can be a great help in recovering it quickly and efficiently. Unfortunately, car theft is a common problem and on the rise. It’s important to take proactive steps to protect your car.

If your car is stolen, thieves normally park your car and wait to see if either the police or the owner turns up to claim it back. Whilst it’s parked up, you can create a fence around the car to alert you and assist the police if the vehicle moves. That is why having a car tracker installed can make an enormous difference saving you money on insurance claims and getting your car back safely.

Dash Camera Integration

Having a GPS Car Tracker on its own is great, but having it as part of your Dash Camera can bring you so many benefits, such as

Our dash cameras even allow you to record audio if you select that option. Whether you’re a fleet manager or a parent wanting to monitor your teenage driver, our two channel dash camera is the perfect solution for you!

Incident Footage

If you have had an unfortunate accident, having recorded footage can be an invaluable asset for your insurance claim. Having a video to summarise what actually happened can be helpful in ensuring that similar accidents don’t happen again in the future.

Not only can it provide insight and evidence into what happened in the event of an insurance claim, but it can also act as a learning opportunity, and help you identify any changes you need to make in the way you do things to prevent similar accidents and incidents from taking place.

Investing in a GPS dash camera can be a great way to ensure that you have a full understanding of what happened and are better prepared to prevent similar incidents happening again in the future.

This allows you to give your customer the fastest pickup time and ensures that they are satisfied with your service.

By providing a fast and efficient pickup, you will build a strong relationship with your customers and create repeat business in the future. This will enable you to have a loyal base of customers who will be more likely to use your services again. Has your insurance company asked for an Insurance Approved Vehicle Tracking system?

You may have been hearing recently about how more and more drivers are having a tracker fitted for car insurance purposes.

The most obvious question everybody asks is why do you need an insurance approved tracker?

Let’s discuss the benefits and options you have in deciding if you really need one.

Why Do I Need An Insurance Approved Vehicle Tracking System?

Most car insurance companies now consider if you already have a GPS tracker installed when designing their policies.

In the past, you might have been asked if you had a tracker already fitted, or as you were filling out your application form, you might have seen a box to tick asking if you already had one.

It wasn’t compulsory and many providers might have offered a reduction in their policy in order to encourage motorists to install one, but now, because of the recent escalation in vehicle theft, most insurers require that an approved vehicle tracker be installed in your vehicle in order to fully validate your policy.

What Insurance Approved Vehicle Tracking Systems we recommend?

There are different levels of Insurance Approved Vehicle Tracking Systems available such as the Scorpion S7 and S5. Your insurer may insist on a certain level depending on the type of car you own. Both of these trackers are a popular choice which are supported by a 24/7 Support Control Room to liaise with you and the Police in the event of the theft of your vehicle.

What’s the Difference between and S5 and S7 Insurance Approved Car Tracker?

An S7 Insurance approved Car Tracker is installed by an approved installer. This is not a DIY installation as the Car Tracker needs to be hidden well within the vehicle to make it difficult for the thief to find it.

If your car is stolen in the UK or moved abroad, the tracker will still be able to locate it, because it will incorporate global coverage. If the vehicle is moved without the ignition being on, you will get motion notifications.

The S7 Insurance Approved Tracker has a significant feature, such as, if the vehicle is towed away and the ignition has not been turned on, it will send early warning theft alerts based on the ignition status while not being driven within a normal start procedure.

An S5 Insurance approved Car Tracker has all the same system above with a little extra. On installation you are provided with Driver ID tags. These must be inside the vehicle when being driven. If not, then the Car Tracker will alert the control room and you will be contacted. The advantage of this is to stop key cloning theft as this is huge in the UK right now. As you probably know from the news that most Key Cloning thefts take place in under 60 seconds. What they cannot clone is the Driver ID Tag that the Car Tracker Looks for, so, if the GPS Tracker cannot see it, the Control room is alerted.

How much do insurance approved vehicle tracking systems cost?

The cheapest Thatcham accredited tracking device we supply is the S7, which is only £179.99 including fitting. Also, you will also need to pay a subscription for the monitoring. If you intend to keep your vehicle for a while, it is cheaper to buy three or even five years in advance. The image below is based on the current monthly prices in October 2022.

Do You Need a GPS Vehicle Tracker But Not For Insurance Purposes?

If this is the case, then let’s explain what’s on offer in terms of choice.

Our Car Trackers use exactly the same technology as the insurance Approved Trackers but without the 24/7 control room.

If your car is taken from your home or moves outside of the designated area, then a push notification will be sent to you via our mobile phone app.

You then call the police and provide your login details and allow access to the Police to the GPS Data. Our Car Trackers not only record the LIVE GPS location of the car but also show all the previous journeys you have taken.

GPS Car TRACKER

When logging in to review the driver’s history, our Car Tracker System will allow you to see Full Driver Behaviour reports on each journey. This shows Harsh Acceleration and Braking, amongst other reports. You can see a LIVE demo login here

Magnetic GPS Tracking

There are some other ways to protect your vehicle from theft. We supply ready to go Magnetic GPS Trackers which simply attach to the underside of the vehicle. The difference being is magnetic trackers are used for plant, static caravans and machinery. When thieves steal a car, they will often look for the Car Tracker within the dashboard or engine, but rarely look underneath the vehicle. These Magnetic Car Trackers can last for up to 12 – 60 months without charge depending on the choice of tracker you purchase.

Installing a Car Tracker near me

I Track Direct offer fully mobile installation services so that we can come to your home or work and install a car tracker for you.

If you would like to install a car GPS tracker yourself, our Car Tracker is an ideal buy and would be a brilliant choice as it works out the box and can easily be installed. We will even provide you with some guidance over the phone on 01622 234510.
